Dry Ice Packs in Brief

Keeping your drinks cold and preserving your food items in the hot weather could be a challenging task, especially when you go out for a picnic. While you can make use of regular ice in the cooler, however, it can barely help you and pretty soon you'll find that your brews are swimming in lukewarm water. You know, you can't really store your food items in there. So, what to do then? Well, get dry ice instead!

Dry Ice Over Regular Ice

Dry ice is a solid and frozen form of carbon dioxide, and it's quite colder than any regular ice. Interestingly, when it breaks down, it gets back to its original form, i.e. gas. Hence, it is really easy to deal with when it comes to keeping things cool. What's more? Dry ice helps keep your drinks and food items frozen for longer as compared to regular ice.
How to Pack Your Ice Cooler?

Take a 10-inch piece of dry ice for every 15 inches in the cooler. Doing so makes sure that your drinks and food items remain cool for at least 24 to 48 hours. Wrap each piece of dry ice in a newspaper before you actually place it in your cooler. The newspaper helps avoid direct contact of ice with your drinks and food items.

Once you pack your ice cooler, make sure you open as little as possible. Opening your cooler again and again leads to fast evaporation of ice. Moreover, when you keep the cooler in your car, make sure you open the windows to let the air circulate. Once you reach your destination, place the cooler in a shaded place and cover it with a thick blanket.

Where to Purchase?

Dry ice packs are easily available in most supermarkets. To make the most of it, prefer to buy it as close to the time when you need it as possible. Don't know if your nearby grocery stores carry dry ice packs or not? Just visit online portals and make sure to enter the relevant phrase in the search bar.
